Chef Brinson founded Culinary Concepts AB with a mission and vision grounded in equity and empowerment. By creating a more inclusive training model which focuses on teaching life skills in addition to occupational skills, Culinary Concepts AB presents opportunities for many who may never have been able to access a career in the culinary arts.
A foodie town at heart, the Charlottesville area has an ongoing need for people with a passion for the hospitality industry. It was only last year that HuffPost placed Charlottesville in the same ranks as New York and San Francisco for the most restaurants per capita. Through its programs, Culinary Concepts AB plays a crucial role in the industry, serving over 60 restaurant and hospitality employer partners, as well as local universities and high schools, hospital systems, food co-ops, and more.
Locals and visitors alike can support the mission of Culinary Concepts AB by taking a cooking class! They offer both public and private cooking classes at their Barracks Road kitchen. Proceeds from cooking classes help Culinary Concepts AB offset operational costs while freeing up program dollars to allocate to workforce training. Their upcoming schedule includes a variety of topics and dishes including knife mastery, fall and winter soups, healthy brunch, and a three-part kid’s holiday cooking class. Taking a class with a group would make for a fun holiday gathering, teambuilding event for the office, date night, or a great holiday gift! Plus, you get to support a fantastic Charlottesville organization at the same time.
