While this list features several, romantic vineyards to visit for Valentine's Day, there are many more places to experience great wine in the Charlottesville area. 1. Pippin Hill Farm & Vineyards
Pippin Hill Farm & Vineyards offers a warm, welcoming atmosphere with gorgeous views of Central Virginia's wine country. Their motto, "great wine deserves great food" definitely holds true in their tasting room -- their culinary team works hard to include fresh, local ingredients on their seasonal menus! The tasting room is open Tuesday - Sunday from 11AM to 5PM. Reservations encouraged!

2. Glass House Winery
Glass House Winery is a unique, tropical oasis any plant (and wine) lover must experience when visiting Albemarle County. Their conservatory stays warm year-round and is filled with over 300 plants (140 varieties)! With award-winning wine and gourmet chocolate made by their in-house chocolatier, you can't go wrong with Glass House! BONUS -- Glass House also offers on-site lodging in the form of a cute and cozy bed and breakfast! The Glass House Winery Bed & Breakfast has lovely views of the mountains and an on-site saltwater pool and hot tub!
3. Eastwood Farm and Winery
This women-owned and family-operated winery never fails to deliver a good time, with award-winning wine and a seasonal farm-inspired menu available every day of the week, year-round! Located a short drive from the Downtown Mall, Eastwood Farm and Winery regularly hosts live music and events making it the obvious choice for an exciting night out. 4. King Family Vineyards
King Family Vineyards is a family-run winery and vineyard located at the foothills of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. It has one of the best sunset views around and a number of award-winning wines to enjoy outside on their expansive lawn (picnics encouraged) or in their cozy, tasting room. Want to make your outing even more memorable? Take a behind-the-scenes tour of their vineyard (Saturdays only), sign up for a guided tasting with their winemaker, Matthieu Finot, or attend an intimate multi-course wine dinner! 5. Barboursville Vineyards
Barboursville Vineyards has decades of winemaking experience and there are quite a few ways to enjoy their wines when you visit! Experience a seated wine tasting in the Library 1821 (ft. older vintages from their cellar) or a more relaxed tasting in their Discovery Tasting Room. Don't forget to explore the Landmark Ruins - it was once the large, Flemish-bond mansion of former-Virginia Governor James Barbour in the 1800s and designed by Thomas Jefferson himself.
Looking to elevate your experience? Book a table at the Palladio Restaurant for a delicious, Italian meal and stay the night on-site at the 1804 Inn and Cottages.
6. Septenary Winery at Seven Oaks Farm
Septenary Winery at Seven Oaks Farm is located about 15 minutes west of Charlottesville in Greenwood, Virginia and perfect for couples looking for a more intimate experience. Open to visitors ages 21+, they offer limited indoor seating and heated, outdoor seating - perfect for sipping wine with a gorgeous view.
Outdoor food is welcome and picnic packs, filled with a selection of snacks, are available for purchase on-site! Septenary also offers private tastings and tours by appointment, which can be made via phone, 434-996-6292, or email, info@septenarywinery.com.
7. Knight's Gambit Vineyard
Knight's Gambit Vineyard is a family-owned and operated winery located outside of Charlottesville in the beautiful, rolling hills of Albemarle County. Enjoy a glass of wine inside their tasting room, on their covered deck, or across their expansive grounds (firepits are available in the winter)! For the most romantic experience, book their private heated tent for the afternoon. The tent comes with its own private deck, neighboring lawn, and two bottles of wine. 8. Merrie Mill Farm & Vineyard
Last but certainly not least on our list is Merrie Mill Farm & Vineyard, one of the area's newest wineries located just east of Charlottesville in Keswick. Merrie Mill offers indoor seating options in their quirky and eclectic tasting room as well as expansive outdoor seating, perfect for the summer sun or bundling up together in the winter, with fire pits and unlimited s'mores.
