Charlottesville is only a short drive from the Blue Ridge Mountains, so make sure to set some time aside to check out White Oak Canyon, Humpback Rocks, and Crabtree Falls. You won’t regret it!
The Rivanna Trail is a 20-mile network of trails encircling the city with sections of trail that pass through woodlands, parks, and city streets. Click here to explore a full map.
While most of the trail is dirt or gravel, there is a 4-mile section of well-marked, paved walkway along the Rivanna River (asphalt with a few wooden bridges that have railings). Saunders-Monticello Trail and Riverview Park also have mostly paved pathways, although we still recommend planning ahead – particularly for accessibility purposes!
