Magic on the Mall | November 25th - January 1st
This year, Magic on the Mall brings a variety of ways to celebrate the holidays on Charlottesville's historic pedestrian Downtown Mall, including live performances, the Holly Trolley, Selfies with Santa, and more! And while you're on the Downtown Mall, be sure to head over to the Ting Pavilion to see the Holiday Tree covered in 20,000 lights. Another great way to experience the local culinary scene is by attending Charlottesville Restaurant Week. Participating restaurants offer prix fixe menus at price points ranging from $19-$39 for a three-course meal. Charlottesville Restaurant Week is also a fundraiser, with $1 of each meal donated directly to the selected charity. This winter's Restaurant Week will be held from January 30th to February 5th, 2023; plan to dine out for a great cause!

James Monroe's Highland
Private guided tours are available during the weekends throughout the winter, and self-guided general admission tours are available daily. Highland will also be hosting After Evening Holiday Tours, and you can find more information here.
Michie Tavern
A great stop for lunch, you’ll be transported back in time as you enjoy 18th century southern fare. After your meal, check out the unique gift shops. For those arriving in the late afternoon on Friday & Saturday, the pub is open for light fare and beverages including Virginia wines, craft beer, and hard ciders.
Kluge-Ruhe Aboriginal Art Collection
The Kluge-Ruhe Aboriginal Art Collection of the University of Virginia is the only museum outside of Australia dedicated to the exhibition and study of Indigenous Australian art. Admission is free, but reservations are highly suggested. Free, 20 to 30 minute tours led by volunteer guides are available at 10:30 am and 1:30 pm. Fun fact: Steve Martin and Martin Short recently said Kluge-Ruhe was their favorite place to visit in Virginia. The museum is family friendly, but only service animals are permitted. Jefferson School African American Heritage Center
Located in the historic Jefferson School City Center, the Jefferson School African American Heritage Center’s mission is to honor and preserve the rich heritage and legacy of the African American community of Charlottesville/Albemarle and to promote a greater appreciation for and understanding of the contributions of African Americans and peoples of the Diaspora. Visitors can attend one of the many programs available at the Jefferson School, tour its permanent exhibition and learn more about its history as a Freedman’s school, first opened in 1865 to its future as an educational cornerstone of the community.
