With decades-long dedication to her cottage garden outside of Charlottesville, Virginia, Mary Ann Burk of Barnswallow Blooms weaves the natural world of the Blue Ridge Mountains, the allure of a secret garden and an artist's love of color, texture and memory-invoking scents throughout her work.

Particularly distinctive to Mary Ann's approach is her ability to offer unique seasonal flowers, with the wild touches of ferns, the beautiful silhouettes of gathered branches, and forged blossoms and greens. She also creates and designs while acknowledging the power of associative memories and scent. Mary Ann likes to add nosegay-inspired sprigs of what is in bloom to her bouquets, knowing that fragrance can bring one back to a very special day in their life.

Mary Ann creates nostalgic bouquets tied with her hand-dyed natural silks, boutonnieres, wedding crowns, as well as arbors, garlands and swags, with the seasonal offerings from both her much loved garden and the gardens of other local growers.
