Annual NASU Powwow

April 5
11:00 AM to 4:00 PM

Lambeth Commons at UVA

Ever wonder what Charlottesville sounded like before Route 29 became four lanes wide? How about before the University was founded in 1819? Well, without a time machine it might be impossible, but we get pretty close!

Join UVA's Native American Student Union for our annual powwow this April 5th! Hear the beating of the drum, the singing, laughter, and dancing! Meet new people, learn something new, have a bite to eat, and enjoy a Native American tradition.

What is a Powwow? They are Native American welcoming events performed for guests in a village. Basically, they are a party with a little bit of music, a little bit of dancing, a little bit of food, and a whole lot of fun!

Come out to Lambeth Field and be our guest as Head Lady, Jennifer Austin, and Head man, Quinton Talbot, lead dancers to the music of Red Clay Singers. There are even opportunities to show your own moves during community dances where everyone is welcome to jump in and shake a leg!
