About the exhibit
Welcome to my debut exhibit. The composition is my life, and the medium is film - a snapshot into the life of a record producer. In late summer 2023, I stumbled across a Honeywell Pentax SPII 35mm camera that my brother gifted me when I was a child. Over the next year and a half, this camera went wherever I went, resulting in 1,500+ photos. From recording sessions to family trips, I quickly realized that film photography was a core memory I had lost touch with.
I found the art of noticing existing composition to be a natural extension of my songwriting and creative process. So what's up with the corny pun-based title? Well, when I was a little guy getting my hands on every camera I could and exploring the world inside the family piano, I loved basking in the sunshine by a flowering bush in my front yard, watching bumblebees collect sweet nectar. After I befriended them, they would sit in my hands and let me pet their fuzzy little backs. As I worked to create my first exhibit, my experience with the bees returned to me. They busily bustle around the world, collecting sweetness to save for later when the world becomes a harsh, cold place. My slice-of-life photography is exactly like that - I fill my Honeywell with golden drops of light to save for later. I hope this collection brings you warmth and sweetness, just as it has for me.
About the artist
American producer and artist Orion Redwolf is renowned for his emotive genre-exploring style. With rich, bendy vocals delivering direct songwriting atop intricate guitar work and luscious production, he draws inspiration from human experiences and the surrounding world to craft evocative compositions. His sound appeals to fans of Hozier, Alt-J, Michael Kiwanuka,John Butler, Joni Mitchell, and Arlo Parks. Redwolf was awarded the inaugural Virginia Commission for the Arts Songwriting Fellowship in 2023 following the release of his 2021 debut record, The GoodStuff.
