Documentary Screening & Conversation with Stars of "Her Name Was Hester"

We are thrilled to invite the entire UVA and greater Charlottesville community to this special screening of the documentary film Her Name Was Hester followed by a panel discussion with the film's subjects, Stacie Marshall, Betty Mosley, and Melvin Mosley, as well as director Professor Brian Campbell of Berry College.

Her Name Was Hester follows Marshall who returns to her ancestral farm in Dirt Town Valley, Georgia, and grapples with the farm's history of enslavement. As she engages in genealogical research and reconciliation efforts, a surprising discovery unfolds, impacting the community forever.
