Join us on Saturday, March 29 from 11am-2pm for the workshop Intro to 3D Stop-Motion: Building a Character led by Miranda Elliott-Rader. In this 3 hour workshop kids ages 9-14 will get to build a wire armature-based character that they can then animate at home. We'll brainstorm stories and characters, sculpt with wire, build up a puppet body with paper wadding techniques, and decorate. Then if time allows, we'll get started on bringing them to life! This workshop is free to attend. Registration is required and children must be accompanied by an adult.
Miranda Elliott-Rader is a puppeteer, mathemagician, and Quaker mystic. As "Nettle Shirts Puppet Works", she has performed up and down the east coast and runs a summer puppet festival right here in Charlottesville. She teaches stop-motion at Tandem Friends School's spectrum summer camp and loves to explore the relationship between stop motion and puppetry.
