Join us as we celebrate the release of James Cole's new poetry collection, The Somatoliths. This in-person event will be cosponsored by WriterHouse and will be free and open to the public. We recommend arriving early for the best seating.
About the Book: As its name suggests, The Somatoliths is about two things: bodies and stones. Seemingly incompatible, yes, but even the most conflicting materials can nest in one another. Born from a childhood obsession with a singular fossil, The Somatoliths uses this seemingly simple combination of contrasting elements to explore the nature of fixation, personal mythology, and the strange habits we form to deal with absurdities of life.
About the Author: James Cole is an author, poet, and neuroscientist based out of Morgantown, WV. As a former Charlottesville resident, he studied degenerative retinal diseases at the University of Virginia, and he now serves as an assistant professor of neuroscience and psychology at West Virginia University. His work has appeared in numerous publications, including Poetica Review, Angel Rust Magazine, and Carolina Muse. In 2019, he released his first poetry collection, Crow, come home, through VerbalEyze Press. Aside from his own writings, James is also cofounder and coeditor of The Rumen Literary Journal.
