Don't miss this unique opportunity to delve deeper into the story and engage in a meaningful conversation. Open to entire UVA and local community-- reserve your seats here.

Based on the memoir "Guantánamo Diary" by Mohamedou Ould Slahi, The Mauritanian tells the true story of Slahi's fight for freedom after being detained without charge by the U.S. Government. Slahi (Tahar Rahim) finds allies in defense attorney Nancy Hollander (Jodie Foster) and her associate Teri Duncan (Shailene Woodley), who battle the U.S. government for justice. Their advocacy, along with evidence from military prosecutor Lt. Colonel Stuart Couch (Benedict Cumberbatch), uncovers shocking truths and proves the resilience of the human spirit.

Lt. Colonel Stuart Couch will be in conversation with Commander Delicia Zimmerman, Associate Professor in the National Security Law department at the Judge Advocate General's Legal Center and School.
