Charlottesville Albemarle Convention & Visitors Bureau Launches Redesigned Tourism Website
New website promotes Charlottesville and Albemarle County to potential visitors and serves local tourism industry partners
December 14, 2021
CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA – The Charlottesville Albemarle Convention and Visitors Bureau (CACVB) is excited to announce the launch of its newly redesigned website, www.visitcharlottesville.org. The new website will serve as the global visitor resource for Charlottesville and Albemarle County, providing a wealth of information about things to do and places to stay, while also assisting tour operators, meeting planners, event planners, and travel media. Additionally, the website will provide local tourism industry partners with a variety of benefits including a free website listing, a robust calendar of events, potential inclusion in blog posts, and paid advertising opportunities aimed at increasing business exposure to visitors.
The website was created by Tempest, a developer procured by the CACVB through a competitive request for proposals (RFP) process. In addition to better serving visitors and industry partners, the new website will also reduce costs for the CACVB, in anticipation of a significant budget decrease projected for Fiscal Year 2023. The reduction in budget for the upcoming fiscal year is a direct result of decreased transient occupancy tax collection from local lodging properties, due to the impacts of COVID-19.
“The website is one of the CACVB’s most powerful marketing tools and how many potential visitors first learn about Charlottesville and Albemarle County,” said Courtney Cacatian, Executive Director of the CACVB. “In coordination with a larger effort to address inequity and diversity in the CACVB’s efforts, including initiatives such as Discover Black Cville, the CACVB hired two diversity, equity, and inclusivity experts to review copy, imagery, and website structure to ensure approachability and ease in utilizing the website by all audiences. The result is an informative and user-friendly website that is perfectly positioned to welcome all visitors to Charlottesville and Albemarle County.”
The new website officially went live to the public during a soft launch on December 8, 2021.
