Board of Directors Meeting
March 7, 2024 – 11:00 a.m.

PRESENT: Francois Abadie, Russ Cronberg, Chris Engel, Emily Kilroy, Bea LaPisto-Kirtley, Jaruchan Palakawongs, Danny Shea, Jay Simple, Brad Uhl, Juandiego Wade, John Wharton (Presence of Juandiego Wade not reflected in the recording)

1. CALL TO ORDER
Chair Bea LaPisto-Kirtley called the meeting to order at 11:03 AM.
a. Roll Call: Bea invited Courtney Cacatian to perform the roll call.
b. Civitas Presentation on Tourism Improvement Districts: Russ introduced Tiffany Gallagher of Civitas to present on the Tourism Improvement Districts. Tiffany highlighted current funding models to benefit tourism as well as supplemental revenue streams. Experiences of the application and development process were also presented. A roadmap to TID formation was displayed with five steps.
c. Follow-Up Questions from CACVB Board: The board asked a number of diverse follow-up questions pertaining to different ways funds may be utilized, any experience with resistance to the establishment of a TID, management of funds, effect on affordability of the destination, etc. Chair Bea LaPisto-Kirtley had to leave the meeting early, and turned the management of the board meeting over to Vice Chair Russ Cronberg. Russ concluded discussion by noting that this is just an informative session and that no votes will be taking place at this time.
d. Public Comment: Roy Van Doorn spoke on being on the board at CHO Airport, referencing the rental car rates, and asking to be mindful of the sensitivity to additional fees for visitors.

Vice Chair Russ Cronberg adjourned the meeting at 12:53 PM
